To Greenland by sailing boat
As an adventurer of the 21st century, Caro North deliberately returns to one of the oldest ways of travelling: she sets off for Greenland on a sailing boat, to make the first ascent of a steep, untouched rock face. What begins as a climbing expedition becomes a journey that reaches far beyond mountaineering. The idea of “by fair means” - travelling under your own power and with as little impact on the environment as possible - carries Caro into the middle of the Atlantic and far outside her comfort zone. Together with seven other women, she spends three months at sea and in the Greenlandic wilderness. Wind, waves, cold and limited resources put the group in front of new challenges again and again. At the same time a strong team takes shape, one that has to learn to make decisions together, to take responsibility and to handle the unpredictable. 13 days on the vertical plane
13 days on a rock face, exposed to the unpredictable Patagonian wind and weather. An expedition that pushes Caro North and her three climbing partners to their limits - and at the same time gives them an exceptional first ascent. At the start of the year the four of them make the first ascent of the Sudafricana route in Torres del Paine as an all-female rope team. Caro gathered the experience for this adventure over many years: through countless climbing expeditions, adventures and other first ascents in Patagonia. But a big wall in Patagonia cannot simply be planned. The weather sets the rhythm, good decisions count as much as stamina and technical skill, and on a rock face the team becomes the decisive factor. Caro takes her audience into one of the most fascinating landscapes in the world and tells of long days on the wall, difficult decisions, friendship and the particular fascination that keeps drawing her back to Patagonia - despite, or perhaps because of, the bad weather.
